Whitesville is a town located in Boone County, West Virginia, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 514 people. The town was established in the late 19th century and was named after the pioneer William White, who settled in the area in 1798. The economy of the town is largely dependent on the coal mining industry. The town has a small business district with a variety of stores and services. Whitesville has a few parks and recreation areas, including the Frieda River Park and the Mine Road Recreational Area. The town also has a library, a post office, and a volunteer fire department.
